I have been wearing the wrong size running shoe for the longest time! Figures.
The very knowledgeable salesperson, an energetic, lanky man, told me to walk barefoot across a pad on the floor to check my step. Cool! I listened to the diagnosis; then he asked me to have a seat. He proceeded to measure my foot. He pulled out a Brannock sizing device. You know what that is! You step one foot on the cold, metal device, and the salesperson slides two metal parts close to your foot for the correct size. I hadn't seen one in years! After this procedure, he said, "I'll be right back!" and disappeared quickly to the back. Whoosh! Just like that. Moments later, he emerged with two boxes, one labeled Asics and one labeled Brooks. My colleagues who run love Asics, so I tried them on first.
I walked around the store in the Asics. I felt the shoes on my feet. They felt heavy. I didn't like that feeling at all. Then I tried on the Brooks shoe. Wow! They felt wonderful. I also found out my true size, 11D. Goodness, I didn't know that I could get a D. I usually buy men's running shoes in size nine and deal with the minor inconveniences of wearing a shoe that wasn't meant for me. Also, when I was in high school and college, I couldn't find running shoes in my size, so I bought men's shoes.
My toes actually felt great. "That's due to the wide toe box!" exclaimed Slim. I didn't know that was what that part of the shoe was called. This visit was quite the eye-opener.
"Sold!" I replied.
I didn't take them off. I was literally wearing a business casual outfit with running shoes. That's how great my feet felt and feel (I'm wearing them now; I just finished a walk!) Did I mention that they are not bad looking? I wanted them in pink, but, of course, no cute colors for Bigfoot! That's fine--maybe next time!
Pictured above are the eggplant seedlings.
These are the pear tomato seedlings.
I just planted these last Thursday. I can't believe how quickly the sprouts appeared! Nothing like a heating pad to stimulate growth. I was shocked that the eggplant sprouted as quickly as it did. The packet said it would take ten to twenty-one days, not four. I will also plant okra and buy a jalapeno. I don't grow jalapenos from seed. I've tried.
I haven't purchased any more makeup. I have what I need. It's a shame that I can't wear any eyeshadow right now. Why? Three weeks ago an overambitious makeup artist applied eyeliner--a pencil eyeliner was used-- to my left eyelid in such a rough manner that she actually left scratches on the lid. Great. Then later that evening, I had an emotional response to a situation which left my eyes severely puffy. My left eyelid couldn't take it. It became swollen. I'm now on an antibiotic to relieve the infection from the cuts. I also think that the pollen is not helping the situation. Hopefully the infection will be gone in a few more days, maybe a week.
I can't complain. I am enjoying my life. I am blessed! Blessed! Oh, did I mention that I had to spend $570 to repair the rotors and replace the water pump on my car? Yeah, that happened too. Thank goodness for the emergency fund. Don't have some pennies stashed up? Start immediately because it's not if, it's when.
